Lenawee County is rich with history! Many early settlers were Quakers whose
descendents were among those aiding fugitive slaves through the Underground
Railroad. Today Lenawee County offers visitors historic downtowns and
buildings, restored Victorian and Queen Ann Houses, museums and
many antique shops that enable travelers to capture a by-gone era.

This historic railroad, the first west of the Allegheny mountains, offers a variety of fun excursions, including the Santa Train and the ever popular Mystery Dinner Train!
Come aboard the Murder Mystery dinner train for a truly unique experience. Enjoy a three hour round trip, complete with a five course meal, while actors develop a “who-dunit” murder plot around you or just arrange to take the family, your group or that special person in your life on a leisurely excursion through the beautiful, ever-changing scenery of the River Raisin Valley.

Lenawee County Historical Museum

Located in a castle-like Romanesque building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the three floors of the museum are filled with paintings, photographs, maps, written documents, furniture, dolls, glassware, tools, vehicles and more! The purpose of this collection is to preserve and reveal the way in which the people of Michigan (and especially Lenawee County) have lived through the years. The museum is barrier-free, has an elevator, sits between the historic Downtown Adrian shopping district and the State/Dennis Street Historic Residential District, has plenty of free parking and is air-conditioned.

Southern Michigan Railroad

This railroad is very popular among Lenawee residents, summer visitors and fall color
enthusiasts. For a minimal charge you can enjoy a round trip, open-air ride through
some of southern Michigan's most beautiful scenery. Farmland, woodland,

St Joseph's Shrine

This shrine has been described as an inspired folk art environment. Constructed during the
Depression, the shrine depicts the crucifixion of Christ. A peaceful, serene and thought provoking experience you won’t want to miss while traveling in the Irish Hills of Lenawee Co.

A historical museum site, and a Michigan State Park, featuring a Federal style farmhouse and New England barn used during the early 19th century as a stop along the Detroit- Chicago stagecoach line. The Walker Tavern Historic Site interprets Michigan’s frontier settlement and stagecoach eras during the first half of the nineteenth century.
