Allen Lake
Public Access is off US12, east of Onsted, in the Irish Hills. Lake area of 63 acres. Lake Allen is known for its Bluegill, Largemouth Bass and Perch. No swimming.
Deep Lake
Located in Onsted. Deep Lake may be accessed by Laird Road. Its best fishing is Bluegill, Northern Pike, and Perch. The bottom is made of gravel, fibrous peat, marl, muck, pulpy peat, and sand. Lake area is 65 acres.
Devil’s Lake
Located in Onsted. Devil’s Lake has 1330 acres of lake. Public Access is in Manitou Beach, on Devil’s Lake Hwy. Best fishing is Bluegill, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, & Perch. The bottom is made of gravel, fibrous peat, marl, pulpy peat, and sand. Great boating, sailing & water-skiing lake! Clearwater Resort & Motel is located on the shores of Devil’s Lake.
Dewey Lake
No Public Access. Located in the Brooklyn/Irish Hills Area. Lake area of 104 acres. The bottom is made of gravel, marl, and organic sand. Dewey Lake is near Deep Lake. Beautiful Dewey Lake Manor B&B overlooks the lake!
Lake Hudson Recreation Area

Located in the Hudson MI area. Public Access available off M-156 south of M-34. 2700 acres of recreational opportunities with 700 acres of lake area. Lake Hudson has a "no wake" speed limit. Premier Muskie & Bass fishing, Game Hunting, Ice Fishing and Cross Country Skiing. New beach area provides excellent place for sunbathing and swimming. Campsites available.
One Mile Lake
Located in Onsted. Public Access may be reached by Grassy Lake Road. Its best fishing is Largemouth bass, with 29 acres of water.
Round Lake
In Jackson and Washtenaw Counties. Round Lake has Public Access. Round Lake is made of 67 acres, with its best fishing being Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Perch. The bottom is made of gravel, fibrous peat, marl, pulpy peat, and sand.
Sand Lake
Located near W J Hayes State Park, in Irish Hills. Public Access is reached by Pentecost Hwy. Sand Lake is made up of 440 acres of water, with its best fishing being Bluegill and Largemouth Bass. The bottom is made of fibrous peat, gravel, pulpy peat, and sand.
Wamplers Lake - W J Hayes State Park

Located in the heart of the Irish Hills. Public Access is on M124 off US12. Wamplers Lake has 780 acres and touches Lenawee, Jackson and Washtenaw Counties. The bottom is made of fiberous peat, gravel, marl and sand. Expect to find good Bluegill, Sunfish, Pike, Muskie, Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass fishing and an excellent public beach for day recreation. Great boating and sailing lake! Camping & Mini-Cabins available at W J Hayes State Park facility.

Most of the smaller lakes in the area have similar features including the types of fish that you can expect to catch (primarily Bluegill & Largemouth Bass) and the types of lake bottoms, a variation of gravel, pulpy peat, sand, marl and fibrous peat.
